Computer network systems are serving as the backbone of broadcast stations. The network has been used extensively in broadcast centres starting from programme production to playback, distribution, storage, etc. Besides broadcast applications, it is also used for Internet, email, documentation, administrative and financial applications. Therefore, when the broadcast station is so much dependant on computer network, it is very important to understand the network technology.
In order to understand networking, including its complexities, its capabilities, its limitations, its scalability, and its dangers, we should view networking as more than the sum of its separate and unique parts. This course on Computer Network Technology will offer you a comprehensive insight into principles and practices of networking in broadcasting stations and sensitise you to gateways and dead ends. Objectives :
The course will enable the participants to
- understand the basics of network communication,
- state in detail the relevant protocols and standards,
- compare and contrast different product characteristics, their advantages, disadvantages and implementation aspects,
- design a computer network to the needs of their broadcast station,
- install network operating systems,
- service and manage the underlying hardware and software,
- administer a network to the needs of their broadcast station.
Project Content :
- Local and Wide Area Communications,
- Network topology, hardware components and software protocols,
- Network design and implementation,
- Network operating systems,
- Network management and security aspects.
