This high profile workshop aims at enabling the engineers, planners and archivists from radio stations to select and install appropriate technical facilities to develop and preserve their station's archive.
The course is designed for decision makers, engineers and technicians, who are involved in the planning of a digital audio archive. Prerequisite is a general knowledge about archiving and digital audio systems technology. Television or transmitter engineers will not be considered. The course is limited to 12 participants only.The course will enable the participants to
- understand the concept of various digital audio archiving solutions,
- develop a strategy for digitalisation and retroconversion,
- develop appropriate metadata systems,
- determine the technical demands on the mass storage system,
- analyse the technical parameter of data carriers and storage media.

- Digital audio archive solutions of various broadcasting stations,
- Metadata systems and standards for sound archives,
- Database software solutions and implementations,
- Strategy development for digitisation of audio material and card catalogue,
- Pros and cons of the data carriers and storage media currently used,
- Technical demands on the mass storage system,
- Automation and system management techniques,
- Data protection and security aspects,
