Manil Cooray has been appointed as the Deputy Director of AIBD with effect from February 2010 with the approval of the Board and endorsement of the President of the AIBD General Conference.

She has been with the AIBD for seventeen years and has served the Institute as Senior Programme Manager, Trainer Methodology, Women & Children, and Programme Manager during this period.

Graduated from the University of Northern Territory, Darwin Australia she holds a Bachelor's Degree in Vocational and Adult Education. She pursed her advanced training in television production and training methodology at Radio Nederland Training Center in the Netherlands. She specialises in Human Resource Development, broadcast training and capacity building. Her long career experience in media and training include designing, implementing and conducting training projects globally. These range from training of media trainers, gender equality, children, more recently on environment , programming for radio and television to fund raising in collaboration with international agencies .In addition, currently she leads the Quality management team at AIBD.

Prior to joining AIBD Manil has served in various capacities in radio, television and training in Sri Lanka. These include as the Assistant Director of the Television Training Institute (SLTTI), National Radio & Television Corporations (SLBC & SLRC) and an in-house consultant to RadioTelevision Brunei.

She has also serves as a regional consultant in countries in South, South East Asia, the Pacific, Africa and Central Asian Republics.
