'Here's the News' is a Manual in radio news training for journalists, reporters, producers and Trainers in the Asia Pacific region. It has been designed after preliminary pre-testing carried out over more than half a dozen training workshops and seminars involving an enormous number of trainers and trainees in the Asia-Pacific region. The Manual is presented as a set of guidelines to be adapted to train radio journalists who should possess a multitude of skills from reporting, interviewing, writing, editing to using of equipment which are the basic techniques of radio journalism , and thereby to strengthen the professional competence of a professional radio journalist. It provides practical advice on designing and training in radio journalism to retain the interest of the listener. In most Asia Pacific countries radio is and will be the most important means of mass communication.

The publication is designed in nine units. After dealing with a number of news directives such as the organization of a newsroom, discussion on what is news, the audience, the manual moves on to the basic principle of writing for radio news, reporting, interviewing for radio news, bulletin editing and presentation of news.
