Management of the media is particularly a challenging task. Specially radio, as the medium which reaches a wider audience apart from its inherent qualities.

The publication examines the role of a manager as a key figure in the process of development, very specially in the rural smaller community stations. The emphasis in this manual lies not only on the cognitive skills required in radio management but also its utility for trainers and those who could develop case studies and real life examples for use in further training in management.

As a challenge this Manual offers a series of statements, culled from the experience of successful Managers and writers, to would-be Managers to be adapted to their own situations, in their own way of doing things. Therefore the manual sets out to attend to tasks , challenge trainers , and then to adapt (perhaps translate) the concepts of radio management for specific roles in development.

The notes contained in this publication are to provoke thought and discussion. They are set out in a visually stimulating form and are punctuated with signs which require a 'stop, think, discuss, decide' - kind of mental exercise.
