CONNECTING IN A CRISIS WORKSHOP FOR MEDIA PROFESSIONALS

As the 3rd day begins for the AIBD/IPDC-UNESCO Regional Workshop ‘Connecting in a Crisis’ Radio, Social Media, Natural Disasters & Climate Change, the participants have had sessions touching on environment and climate change, health communication and audience mapping as well as session highlighting the online tools available for journalists.

The consultant, Mr Anthony Frangi, an award-winning Media and Communications strategist with more than 30 years' experience in media management, programming and presenting, journalism education and communication, highlighted on the importance of radio in a crisis situation and how to combine social media to create a wider network of connection.

AIBD in cooperation with FBC, hosted an in-country workshop on television promo production, from 25 to 28 September 2017, in Suva, Fiji. The workshop had 14 participants which included journalists, producers and editors from FBC and Fiji TV.  

The workshop started off with perception experiments where the participants learn to recognize different physical, cultural and emotional aspects of communication. Workshop experiments were selected carefully from well-verified and reputable studies in academic area, which were interesting enough to motivate participation.

The Sub-Regional SDGs workshop for the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation  (SAARC) countries has been proposed from 5th – 7th December, 2017.  One of the objectives of the workshop is to highlight the success stories from Bangladesh on SDG1 – No Poverty.

A 2-day training working on Science Journalism to communicate health and science related topics began today at the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) premises in Kuala Lumpur.

Supporting the agenda of United Nations Development Programme, AIBD invited 12 broadcasters from its member to participate in the Regional Knowledge Exchange Programme held in Manila, Philippines from 2-4 October 2017.
