In this unprecedented global pandemic, it is important for all member countries to stay connected and learn from each other how the health crisis being managed while in the lockdown. The first ever virtual COVID Response Session was organized on the 9 April 2020 for the media fraternity.  It was a fruitful and learning experience for more than 150 journalists and experts from 24 countries. This was followed by another two exclusive sessions for the Heads of Organisations on 23rd April and 30th April 2020, due to the overwhelming response and feedback in the first session and to ensure a fair regional representation of the members.

The Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD), as an intergovernmental body, feels another exclusive session for the Heads of Organisations and media fraternity in the Pacific Region is necessary to keep them abreast of the latest development of the pandemic and to cope with the current uncertainty.

This is to bring together the top-level management to learn and share best practices of crisis management, content sharing and manage COVID related health risks by the member organisations.

  • to adapt to post COVID changes by the media industry;
  • to better understand COVID Response Measures and create a framework (SOPs) to handle the pandemics; and
  • to plan for new normal training needs for the members.
