The AIBD /IPDC-UNESCO sub-regional workshop, hosted by Nepal Television will be held from 23 to 27 April 2012 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The workshop aims to provide young journalists with an understanding of the legal rights and responsibilities, and practical skills to anticipate and respond to legal challenges in their work. The topics will include legal standards for defamation and privacy (including suits for malicious/injurious falsehood) restrictions on so-called "hate speech", issues in covering court cases and other legal proceedings and the fast-changing lanscape of Internet and online regulation.
Young TV Journalists with at least three years of working experience in journalism from the news departments of broadcasting organisations and legal assistants in multi-media fields with an interest in Media Law with competencey in written and spoken English are encouraged to apply.
