AIBD Sub-Regional Workshop on Sports Journalism

The three-day sub-regional workshop was conducted from 23rd to 25th September, 2019 in Kuala Lumpur. About 16 journalists from Myanmar, Malaysia and Vietnam attended the workshop. It was the first of its kind of workshop organised by AIBD, and first in a series of workshops planned for broadcasters as a run-up to the forthcoming 32nd Olympic Games scheduled in Tokyo in July-August, 2020.  

AIBD Quality Management System (QMS) - First Surveillance Audit 2019

The first surveillance audit was done on 11 September 2019. The focus was on Training, Consultancy, Conference and Workshops Organisation for the programme department; whereas for the administration and IT department, it was on purchasing and for the Management it was about changed directorship. Termed as Operation Control 1, Ms Normalis Ali from SGS(M) Sdn Bhd, conducted the audit using interviews, observation of activities and review of documentation and records.

The Director of AIBD, Ms Philomena Gnanapragasam was warmly received by Ms Yong Xin Tian, First Secretary (Political) at the High Commission of the Republic of Singapore and had a successful discussion on building networks to carry out various activities between the two neighboring countries.

AIBD Director meets UNESCO Assistant DG for Media and Information

The AIBD Director, Ms Philomena Gnanapragasm, met with the UNESCO Assistant Director General for Media and Information, Mr Moez Chakchouk, here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last week. The meeting saw discussions on building partnerships between the two agencies to carry out various activities in the region.

Some of the key areas discussed were on disinformation or ‘fake news’, Media and Information Literacy (MIL), safety for journalists and climate change among others.

AIBD Selects New Director

AIBD full members selected Mrs Philomena Gnanaprag as the Institute’s  new Director at the 18th General Conference (GC) & Associated Meetings held in Paro, Bhutan on 23 August 2019.

Prior to her appointment as the first lady Director of the Institute, Mrs Gnanaprag served as AIBD’s officiating Director for eight months.
